Az együttes a főváros XXII. kerületében alakult, a Nádasdy Kálmán Művészeti és Általános Iskola tanáraiból és növendékeiből a historikus zenélés kutatására és gyakorlására. Műsorainkban a korabeli éneklés mellett sok érdekes fúvós, pengetős és ütőhangszert szólaltatunk meg.

Hangszereink régi ábrázolások és múzeumi példányok alapján készült kópiák, melyeknek tekintélyes részét saját magunk gyártjuk. Fellépéseinken öltözékünkkel is törekszünk az eredetiségre. Igyekszünk korhű atmoszférát teremteni, hallgatóságunkat gondolatban visszarepíteni a régmúltba, és a hajdan élt emberek érzelemvilágából, életstílusából közvetíteni.

Az általunk játszott darabokban saját értelmezésünk, elképzelésünk szerint szólalnak meg. Így például műsoron tartjuk a Kr. előtti VI. sz.- ból származó Ugarit- dalt, görög sírfeliratot, és Apollón himnuszt, a középkori első magyar fennmaradt " Ó Magyar Mária"- siralmat, ó-spanyol, francia világi és egyházi énekek és táncok feldolgozásait, VIII. Henrik saját szerzeményű műveit, és a zenetörténet sok más érdekes alkotását.

A hangszer-összeállításunk érdekessége, hogy az ismert középkori hangszereken kívül (blockflőték, krummhornok, töröksíp, chalumeau, cornetto, harsonák, naturtrombita, tolótrombita ,reneszánsz-duda, psaltérium, tambura, kobzok, lantok, harangjáték, hárfa, tromba-marina, dobok és más ütőhangszerek ) néhány ritka ókori típus rekonstrukcióján is játszunk, pl.:lyra /teknőchárfa/, littuus, tuba, sámánsíp. sistrum, kagylókürtök, pánsíp. Műsorainkban alkalmanként megszólaltatjuk a Tűzoltó Múzeum kezdeményezésére elkészült római kori víziorgonát, mely az Aquincumban feltártnak a korhű mása.

Egyes műsorainkban a régi korok gyakorlatát követve énekkarral is fellépünk. Külön érdekességnek számít együttesünk közreműködése középkori lovagi játékokat idéző produkciókban.

St. Christopher Old Music Group

St. Christopher Old Music Orchestra / Group was organised by teachers and students of the Art School of Nádasdy Kálmán in the XXII. District of Budapest to search and also play historical music.
In our program not only period songs but also many interesting wind-pluck and percussion instruments can be heart.
Most of our instruments are copies made by us according to the originals and old drawings in different museums.
We also make an effort on the originality by wearing clothes of these times.
So we try to prepare the atmosphere of these days, try to make our audience fly back to the past to feel the emotion and lifestyle of ancient people.
Plays and songs are played according to our explanation and imagination. However we play an Ugarit-song from the VI. Century before Christi, a Greek epitaph, a Hymn of Apollo, the first “Ó Mária Siralom” from the Middle Ages, the writing up of ancient Spanish and French church, lay -songs and -dances, original songs from Henrik the VIII. and many other interesting plays of the music history.
The point of interest in the assembly of the instruments is that we are playing not only the well-known middle-aged instruments (blockflőte, crumhorn, turkish pipe, chalumean, cornetto, trombone, nature-trumpet, slide-trumpet, renaissance bagpipe, psalterium, lute, lyre, bells, tromba-marina, harp, drums and other percussion), but also some copies of rare ancient instruments (turtle-shaped lyre, littuus, tuba, shaman-pipe, sistrum, shell-horn, panpipe).
In our presentation we play the water-organ which was made up of the invitation of the Fireman’s Museum, according to the original in the Museum of Aquincum.
Occasionally our orchestra is performing together with a core following the customs of ancient ages.
Another interesting event is given that our group takes part in productions recalling middle aged knight-tournaments.
